"DP-AI 7.0: Transforming Pathology and the Clinical Labs"

This year, the Digital Pathology - Artificial Intelligence Workshop is in its seventh year and will focus on whole slide imaging beyond surgical pathology. As the field of digital pathology continues to grow, we are seeing new technology coming into hematology, hematopathology, cytopathology (with FDA approval or studies going through the approval process) this year. More use cases beyond surgical pathology are within reach. These technologies continue to expand our ability to democratize access to experts that are geographically dispersed across our integrated health systems. Presentations showcasing these technologies and adoption stories will be presented. Beyond scanners, AI and machine learning software continues to grow in functionality and use cases to span these different lab implementations will be showcased spanning hematopathology, cytopathology, quality control within Anatomic pathology.
There will be thirteen (13) invited speakers and an opportunity to visit three (3) different laboratory sites, each providing an opportunity to visit a lab space, speak with the lab managers, and explore the featured technology.

Join us Thursday, September 28 at 7 PM for the Opening Welcome Reception at the Gonda Building on Mayo campus. Thirteen invited speakers will begin their presentations on Friday, September 29 (8:00 am - 2:00 pm) and through Saturday, September 30 (8:00 am - 1:00 pm). Lab tours will take place on Friday afternoon (2:00 pm - 5:00 pm) and non-industry attendees will rotate through 3 lab sites, each providing an opportunity to visit a lab space, speak with the lab managers, and explore the lab technology.
The organizing society for this meeting, the Association for Pathology Informatics (API), is a not-for-profit organization that seeks to advance pathology informatics. Pathology Informatics has been increasing in importance as the demand for, and development of, information systems and technology continue to address healthcare industry needs. Beginning with the collection, processing, and analysis of patient specimens, the field of pathology, as a whole, generates significant amounts of data that require careful interpretation and reliable distribution to fulfill the core mission of supporting patient care.
API and its meetings are regarded as incubators for new ideas and technological applications. Not only does API host meetings that showcase advanced research, it also fosters a community for thought-leaders and stake-holders in pathology informatics to explore and challenge the boundaries of what is available in digital pathology, IT systems, and artificial intelligence for existing hospital and laboratory institutions. API is also constituted by individual volunteers, many of whom are leading Pathologists and researchers uniquely positioned to identify, implement, and promote cutting-edge projects. Many of our volunteers and speakers are decision-makers sitting ”in the room” when budgets are written, proposals are reviewed, and decisions are made.
