Digital Pathology Workshop

Workshop Summary

This workshop will focus on the practical issues surrounding the deployment of digital pathology and AI in a hospital setting. Ten lectures by national experts will be punctuated by Q and A sessions including industry representatives and a guided tour of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Department of Pathology at Shadyside Hospital. Topics covered will include the fundamentals of digital pathology, the integration of the technology with LISs, the enhancement of AP workflow, the development of an RFP for purchasing digital pathology equipment, and current perspectives about AI within pathology.
The workshop will begin at 7:30 am, Friday, December 13, with coffee and a light breakfast. Friday presentations will consist of lectures, faculty Q and A, and vendor introductions. There will be a cocktail hour from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM followed by a congenial dinner at 7:00 PM held at the Courtyard Marriott Shadyside with a featured after-dinner lecture by Dr. Michael J. Becich on the evening of Friday, December 13, which is included in the conference registration price and will enable peer-to-peer interactions.  Saturday December 14, will begin at 7:30 AM with a working breakfast where faculty and vendors will be available to respond to attendee questions.  This will be followed by lectures after which time registrants will separate into groups to tour the UPMC digital pathology labs located at UPMC Shadyside. After the tours attendees will return to Herberman Conference Room for the faculty panel and a summary at the end of the morning of lessons learned during the workshop. The conference will adjourn at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The tempo of this digital pathology workshop is rapid by design with ten faculty lectures, each for about 40 minutes.
It is anticipated that all registrants will have a keen interest in deploying a digital pathology system in their home practices and will leave Pittsburgh with a broad range of practical ideas about how to rapidly achieve this goal. Because of the limited size of the conference room, registrations will be limited to 75 on a first-come, first-served basis. Last year's inaugural workshop with about half the room capacity was over subscribed and it is anticipated that this year's event will track a similar course.

REGISTRATION: The early bird registration fee for the workshop will be $795 until the cut-off date of 10/15/19. Following this, the regular fee of $895 will apply from 10/16-12/6 with online registration completed on 12/6/19 or earlier if the event reaches capacity.  Once the event has reached capacity we will close registration and people will be added to the waiting list.  Registration is on a first come, first served basis.

Cancellation policy: $100 cancellation fee before October 15, 2019 | $200 cancellation fee after October 15, 2019 | No refunds after November 15, 2019
