Pathology Informatics 2010 and Beyond
The new "Pathology Informatics" annual meeting represents a merger of two long-running informatics meetings into a single, cohesive conference:
- Lab InfoTechSummit (LITS, formerly AIMCL): 1983 - 2009
- Advancing Practice, Instruction & Innovation through Informatics (APIII): 1996 - 2009
This API-sponsored conference is designed to meet the needs of physicians including residents and fellows, researchers, and graduate students. The conference is aimed at all informatics knowledge levels with introductory courses offered on the first day of the conference for individuals new to the field. API members receive discount registration to this conference.
The first Pathology Informatics conference was held in Boston, September 19 - 22, 2010. The dates for the 2019 conference are now set. Details of the 2018 conference are being worked out. The 2014 and subsequent conferences will likely be held earlier in the year to avoid conflicts with other pathology and medical informatics conferences.
The Pathology Informatics Conferences will mirror and expand upon the themes of the LITSand APIIIconferences, following three general tracks (1) Clinical Informatics; (2) Anatomic Informatics; and (3) Digital Imaging.
Planning for the 2018 meeting is currently underway. The Planning Committee includes Dr. Bruce Friedman, Dr. Ul Balis, Dr. Mark Tuthill, and Dr. Stephen Hewitt along with API staff at the Department of Biomedical Informatics University of Pittsburgh and the University of Michigan including Nova Smith, Beth Gibson and others.
